Even the ska oriented track they seem to have on most albums was surprisingly appealing. It had the sonic variety that Smash lacked, but without the polish of its more MTV-friendly followup. Ixnay had the perfect balance between those two worlds. I still think it's underrated overall it seems to often get dismissed as being too much of a pop album, but I digress. I've noticed Americana gets much more credit these days than it did upon its release. Granted, the impact of Smash can't be understated, and to this day it continues to hold the title of best-selling independent label album of all time for a reason. IMO Ixnay On The Hombre was their best album, which is no small claim when comparing it to Smash and Americana.
